If you do not have a smartphone (Android or iPhone) and have a basic keypad phone, you can still use UPI. With *99# service you can check bank balance, send money etc.
Note – If your mobile number registered with the bank is of Jio network then you cannot use *99# service.
This feature works through sms, for this it is necessary to have balance in your sim card.
- Dial *99# on your phone. (This is a USSD number)
- If you have not already registered for UPI, then you have to register here first.
- To register with *99#, select the Register option from the menu.
- Now write the name of your bank in short form. Like for State Bank of India – SBI , for IDFC first bank – IDFC , for Bank of India – BOI write like this.
- Now you will get an OTP on your phone. Enter this OTP and link the account with UPI.
- Now you can use *99# service. Select the Check Balance option from the main menu.
- Now you will see the balance of your account in USSD reply.
